Dear Student,

Study China, alongside insurers AIG, University of Manchester Safety Officers, and government bodies are continuing to monitor the situation in China and the impact the Coronavirus may have on the 2020 programme.

Following updated guidance from the FCO on travel to China , we have decided to extend the application deadline for Study China 2020 until Monday 24 February.

The application deadline will now close at 9am on Monday, 24 February, and we plan on releasing all application results on Tuesday, 25 February by email to your university address ahead of beginning Phase 1.

This measure has been taken in order to delay Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the application process, during which we require applicants to upload documents, purchase flights, and make a firm commitment to the programme.

Until the situation improves, we will not ask any student to make a financial commitment (purchase of flights, insurance, and visa) to Study China 2020.

Study China 2020 is due to commence in August, and we remain hopeful the programme will run as scheduled. The health and safety of all students and staff involved in all stages of Study China are our paramount concern and priority.

All applications will be graded against the published criteria on the website . Offers will be made to those scoring above a certain threshold. If there are more applications above this threshold than places available, we will look at the date of submission, favouring early applicants.

As updates become available, we will notify you through the Study China newsfeed.

Thank you for your co-operation and understanding.

Ben and Joana
